What You Don't Admit Can Hurt You; Alternative Facts Are Merely Facultative Delusions; Jack Likes Manners, Not Bad Sports

"Ch-" by Herr D on heromachine. Maturity has been badly missed. Facing truth and loss has been done by Democrats. Now it is the Republicans' turn.-Shelob

So, how can you tell when somebody is typing out of loyalty, typing out of stupidity, or typing out of malice? Please define your terms?

I looked through the comments of a site. Some people might be stupid enough to not see the GLARING logical errors in what they're declaring. Some people might just turn their brains 'off' and copy what they think they heard because they automatically believe it. Some people deliberately lie and pick fights, hoping people are believing their lies. How do you know which is which?  Hairy frequently pointed out that people can lie very effectively on the internet. You have said you don't believe he is an alien.

Sometimes, when I'm REALLY tired, I kind of do believe it. But that's easier to believe than to believe the words of someone who insulted everyone he could and claimed he was being picked on when people insulted him back. Even when I DON'T know what's truth and what isn't, I can't ignore the complete lack of maturity, the lack of grace, the abundance of boasting and entitlement.  You are speaking of manner.

I could never look up to someone like that. Loving to bully? Daring anyone to hint maybe he should earn his way or do anything that should be done? Or act like someone I could actually respect?

I'm not the NICEST person there is, but I missed, from our last president, someone I could look up to. Someone who could at least TRY to pretend he deserved being there instead of maybe deserved being kicked out of every respectable country who would never put up with him. That's why so many intelligent people I knew were so depressed they didn't answer polls and get counted.

Maybe his slogan should have been Make A Goofy Ass out of all of us?

I am worried about how so many people could possibly be stupid enough to believe that the election was stolen? Perhaps these are those 'alternative facts' they kept speaking of. Is there an antipsychotic to recommend?

This reminds me of those stupid people in the '80's that thought subjective reality was a good idea. If you don't believe a tree is there, but it really is, it will still hurt to run into. The GOAL is accuracy, truth. NOBODY SHOULD EVER SETTLE FOR LESS.  Compulsive liars or liars with an agenda occasionally suffer Munchausen's Syndrome. It is irreversible.

If it would keep them quiet, I could live with them going insane. Believe whatever they like. Stop pestering us good people who want a good life and can live with any reasonable person with ease. Your internet history shows that there were 162 comments.

Yes? Eleven of them come from IP addresses that suggest Russia and North Korea. Perhaps some of the more naive were duped into insurrection by foreign agents?

I just want to Make America Wise Again. Good luck.

Beulah, Print Me A Steak--No Kidding; MeaTech Has Done It

"With A Tap, Kvar Fails Stealth Training," by Herr D on heromachine.com. Kvar's tester is  not as obvious as Herr D's suggestions to the FDA. Perhaps they were not quoted correctly? -Shelob

What do you mean, they DID it? News reported success on 2/9. [provides link]

[eleven minutes 12.883 seconds pass] They DID. They're 3D printing STEAKS, now. The difficulties they speak of are confusing.

Yeah, they're just confused. They said they 'don't have the framework' to decide how to deal with it in the FDA or whatever. They're wrong. You have solved this problem?

It's not a problem. It doesn't NEED a solution. They can already apply all the tests and panels and judges and auditors and taste-testing rats and whatever else to each substance anyone wants to pass through the 3D printer. That would successfully rate the substances.

Well, like it or not, the 3D printer is just another food processor. It processes food. Let them test the product result against the source and against 'real' steaks till they're satisfied that the chemical differences are nil or 'within safe margins.' They do that all the time. Then why DO they not think they "have the framework?"

They're probably afraid they can't read the instructions. Are they not allowed translators?

They're not allowed kids. Goat meat has been approved for human consumption.

GoodBYE, Shelob. [exits]

Worry May Sell Lindell's Products, But Herr D Ain't Buyin' It

"Scene Of Jerry's Disappearance" by Herr D on heromachine. Herr D hid a few mostly melted snowmen in this picture. Sometimes the obvious explanation is the best. -Shelob

 Mike Lindell spouts conspiracy theories?

Yes.

That's the My Pillow Guy, right?

Yes.

He just wants people to have trouble sleeping so they'll buy his products.

Okay.

Net Ninny For Now Meant Mammary Meme Mean; Palladin Posited Positive Preposterousness

"Bat Of Reality For Linea" by Herr D on heromachine. Linea's identity uncertain, but not the Net Ninny mentioned later in entry. No cranium was harmed in the production of this picture.-Shelob

We might try to regularize a post style.  Do you wish a reformat?

No. I mean a type of content.  Please.

Bad internet behavior.  You are speaking of not signing off?

No. I think trolling or stupid posts.

[.0000000000000000000000217 seconds pass] titlebot suggests Net Ninny.

[startle reaction] That's good. That's -- better than I had. Okay! Net Ninny for now!

[question composition] Who is the Net Ninny for now?

I --  didn't get a name. I'll have to just describe it. Her. There's this small dairy that puts the names of cows on their yogurt packages for marketing purposes.  This is Ninnyesque?

That's funny. No. I'm just setting the scene. There was a picture of one of the packages online. A lady posted that she thought animal product consumption was misogynistic, because all the names were female names.   That is out of set.

Silly, right? Thanks go out to the very next poster, who pointed out that yogurt from a bull wouldn't taste right.  Males do not have mammary glands.

[apparent laughter -- similar vibrations of laptop] Right. That's a special kind of wacky, knowing the word misogynistic but not knowing cows are female.   titlebot suggests naming the correction commenters Palladins.

[pause, probable head shake] Wow. Okay, that was better than mine, too. Kills trolls, rights wrongs . . . good. I'm sorry I didn't get screen names or a link. I'll try to do better next time.

Predictions: Business As Usual

"Fontist's Desk" by Herr D on heromachine. Business as usual.-Shelob

All right. I'm onto you.

That preposition does not compute.

You had me take off ALL January Wednesday nights.

That was discussed.

Well, nothing happened Inauguration Day. The week before was the riots. The week after were three hate crimes near my workplace. I heard all about it last night.

Correct.

Don't "correct" ME 'Shelob! ' How did you know?

Hairy left specific instructions.

That psychic time traveler nonsense again?

It could not be nonsense; it is correct.

Because all of his predictions have been right?

Correct.

I don't buy it.

No purchase required.

That's not funny. Why didn't you just tell me to avoid being out on Wednesdays?

My instructions.

Right. [exits]

Them's Fightin' Words--In Other Words, Foolish Ones

"Misunderstanding In Maternity" by Herr D. Sometimes things are not as they appear.-Shelob.

Among the instructional materials I have been given by my employer was a video reminding everyone that fighting can be avoided. Real video of real-life people saying things that are obviously argumentative.

Among the example videos was a young woman with a muddled Carolinian accent asking a nurse did she "really believe masks work?" And being told, as my recent source said, that the nurse wouldn't be working if they didn't. The young woman asked a question about testing a mask with cigarette smoke.

In another segment, she said that she believed Facebook and Twitter were "trying to silence Donald Trump" that "he had nothing to do with the riots" that the rioters were people "from Black Lives Matter and antifa" and admitted that she got some of her news from Newsmax. And declared that she had "seen videos" that backed up her beliefs.

I was appalled to realize that the woman wasn't hard to find.

Gullibility and wrongful skepticism don't just happen to less intelligent people. Some very bright people are way too naive about some things. Critical thinking is HARD WORK compared to just being spoon fed what you should think.

Shelob?

Consider your sources.

An obvious rule. Internet is convenient, but less accurate because those sources don't have to answer to the same level of scrutiny as a physical paper newspaper. Wire services and fact checker sites can help pick a good one. Bias isn't always obvious, and some people don't always know to avoid the Op Eds. Next?

Question interpretive statements.

Good. "Trying to silence" anyone is impossible in this day and age, and Zuckerberg's people are too smart to waste their time. I'm not sure I know about Twitter. I DO know that both companies have policies against hate speech and other problematic behaviors. I also know that both companies waited a little too long to suspend Trump.

I know that Trump didn't show up to walk with them. Neither did the few congressmen who seemed to be encouraging them. Anyone who actually listens to his words knows he encouraged bad behavior.

And the contents of the crowd?

Unfortunately, one of the reasons I know that BLM wasn't behind this is that there were more black members of the Capitol Police than the crowd. People are more involved in their own problems than risking their necks for others. The reason I know it was Trump supporters is that so many of them DID NOT WEAR MASKS. Only some Trump supporters, suicidal people, uberskeptics, and really stupid people refuse to wear masks in crowds now.

Thank you, Herr D. This is a good entry.

Not Surprised Or Angry, Just Disappointed

"Map Recovered At White Rock Canyon Maze" by Herr D. He made a comment about a lack of civilization, so this is probably the most appropriate artwork.-Shelob

Hairy told me, even if I wasn't capable of guessing, that there would be problems this year with Trump supporters. I can't even imagine how everyone else didn't know that something was going to happen. So I'm disappointed in anyone who buys that there was "no intelligence" on the recent events happening.

I'm disappointed that officials that were elected, in any party, in THIS nation, felt threatened again.

I'm disappointed that law enforcement had to act heroically to save these people, that deserve to be safe.

I'm disappointed that pro-Trump citizens of these United States could not act as lawfully as the members of Black Lives Matter, who did a fantastic job of protesting in a bloodless, non-threatening manner.

I'm not surprised. I'm not angry. Not even that someone had to be killed. Anyone who cannot stand to use the bloodless mechanisms for change that this country allows? Who deliberately incites violence that ends in bloodshed over politics in a democratic Republic? They aren't just seditious. They are guilty of treason. That includes President Trump.

I hope I'm being clear. This country was designed for bloodless change. Coups are just stupid.
